We're sure that fans of Chicago's Wilco were pleased to see an end to the group's performing hiatus as well as the release of their 11th studio album Ode to Joy!  Like so many bands, the members have changed over the years, but the current 6-piece has been together since the early/mid 2000's.  On the new album, they continue their long journey of twisting and turning through multiple genres.  Check out the upbeat video for Everyone Hides! CAAMP is a folk trio from Columbus, OH, and they're definitely on the come up!  About a year ago someone in our HQ brought the band up, we made note, then in the midst of a crazy busy Summer we missed their second full-length, By and By.  We're glad that we circled back because, as their website boasts, they make beautiful noise.  These guys aren't by any means unknown as they've played a bunch of top-tier festivals and toured all over, but we bet there are plenty of people who are yet to check them out (and they need to)!... Broken Bells just released Good Luck, but odds are we'll probably have to wait a while for their third full-length.  The proven success of James Mercer (The Shins) collaborating with Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) has us all anxious to hear more, but as they've stated in recent interviews, their both constantly writing and recording on multiple projects.  They have confirmed that they are working on that third album... Earlier this Summer, Jersey natives Work In Progress dropped their first two singles, Dream Eater & Waste My Time.  While the former features one of our area's top up-and-coming celebs (Gaten Matarazzo; Stranger Things), the latter sports some stunning vocals by his sister Sabrina.  You may have caught the band at last weekend's See.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park, and although the band has some uncertain plans (they postponed a few shows this Summer due to scheduling conflicts), we're hoping to get them to one of our event's in the near future.  In the meantime, we know their drawing their own... This week we're featuring Waste No Time from the powerful collaboration of Chali 2na & Krafty Kuts!  The legendary rapper from Jurassic 5 & Ozomatli teamed up with Martin Reeves, who has achieved international fame as a DJ/Beatmaker, carries a strong 15 tracks on their new album.  The superhero-themed full-length is aptly titled and includes some strong featured artists just like Dynamite MC on this track - check it out! Half Alive's debut album Now, Not Yet was released this month and it's everything we thought it would be considering the heavy stream volume of their previous singles that dropped leading up to it.  The CA-based trio simply has a different sound, and the album is the culmination of 4+ years of writing and assembling the band.  It's Labor Day, so kick back and check out Pure Gold, but honestly, listen through the entire album as it's one of the best we've heard in some time!     Read More...

Sister Rosetta is just one of the songs off of Frank Turner's new album which celebrates women.  In this case, Turner is referring to Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the often forgotten American singer from the 30's who helped pave the way for later Rock & Rollers like Elvis and Johnny Cash.  No Man's Land, due out in mid August, features 13 tracks that focus on female heroism.   Read More...

STS (Sugar Tongue Slim) & Khari Mateen might not be household names in your world, but they've been behind some really great music for quite some time now.  Spring Summer Collection 19 is their second release in the past two years offering just an abundance of style - simply put, they are two distinctly different artists that unite to give us an amazing collaboration.  Khari's CA roots and Slim's ATL upbringing meshed when they both moved to Philly.  Do some digging through whichever music platform you live on, you'll see that these two super talents are bound for more success... Canadian rock duo Black Pistol Fire has a new single out and is building on 2018 which many have pinpointed as their breakout year.  That said, let's give Kevin McKeown and Eric Owen a little more credit, playing together since high school and 5 albums deep since 2011.  They've relocated from Toronto to Austin and recorded this one in Nashville...and they're clearly blowing off some steam!  Check them out on tour as they've received several accolades for their live stage show!   Read More...

In a couple of weeks Of Monsters and Men will drop their third album, Fever Dream.  The new single, Alligator, is certainly anthemic despite shedding the folk skin that its ancestors like Little Talks and Dirty Paws beamed onto so many playlists with.  For a band whose origins began from entering an annual music competition in Iceland, its uplifting to see them grow and bring so much energy to a worldwide stage. Hot Water Music recently released Shake Up The Shadows and is celebrating their 25th anniversary!  Chuck Ragan and the guys are playing in Philadelphia this month and then in a few select cities throughout 2019 and into 2020 (see below).  The upbeat By Any Means is one of five songs on the EP which weighs in on the volatile time that we are living in.  This band has an incredible Draw Your Own Line story, for example, Ragan now runs a fly fishing guide service!  Enjoy!
