A year ago Katie Ferrell of the James River Association reached out to learn more about how we were cleaning our coastal waters. Today, she has secured grant funding, grown 500 oysters in the James River and implemented educational programming where students are measuring oysters, water filtration and water quality! The oysters are filtering ~2,800 gallons of water per day which not only helps the James River, but also the Chesapeake Bay. Great job Katie, keep up the great work!
