"Alligator" by Of Monsters and Men

In a couple of weeks Of Monsters and Men will drop their third album, Fever Dream.  The new single, Alligator, is certainly anthemic despite shedding the folk skin that its ancestors like Little Talks and Dirty Paws beamed onto so many playlists with.  For a band whose origins began from entering an annual music competition in Iceland, its uplifting to see them grow and bring so much energy to a worldwide stage. "Go" by The Black Keys

The real magic happens when Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are together as The Black Keys!  They're back with their first full length in five years, twelve tracks of straight rock hence the album title which alludes to the first execution in Tennessee in 16 years (which occurred during recording).  Check out Go! "Strands Align" by Night Moves

This week we're featuring Minneapolis band Night Moves!  They just dropped their 3rd album, Can You Really Find Me, which is getting great reviews and perhaps too many comparisons to greats from the 70's era.  We only say that because we love a solid, underrated band and would advocate to let them Draw Their Own Line!  Enjoy their fun video for Strands Align! "Fault Is Me" by Sleepwalkers

This week we're featuring Sleepwalkers, the Richmond (VA) shot callers who are about to release Ages, their second full-length!  These dudes are DYOL official, and we can't help, but share part of their Facebook bio...a group of outlaws who rose from the blue collar depths of a glorified suburban landscape.  Check out Fault Is Me and catch them on tour all throughout the Midwest and East Coast this Summer! "Western Stars" by Bruce Springsteen

We've touted many Jersey artists, but none carry a portfolio even close to that of The Boss!  Bruce just dropped Western Stars, his first record in 5 years, which is receiving great reviews due to the thematic and character-based songs.  We won't disagree.  Enjoy the title track and video from a man who has stayed at the top of his game for 5 decades!     Read More...

"Might Be Right" by White Reaper

Louisville rockers White Reaper recently signed with Elektra and are about to embark on a US tour through this Summer and into November!  Might Be Right is their first single on the new label and we're hoping that a new album is in the works (Pitchfork touted their last album as one of The 20 Best Rock Albums of 2017).  These guys would be perfect for HopSauce Festival 2020, hmmmmmm... Hot Water Music recently released Shake Up The Shadows and is celebrating their 25th anniversary!  Chuck Ragan and the guys are playing in Philadelphia this month and then in a few select cities throughout 2019 and into 2020 (see below).  The upbeat By Any Means is one of five songs on the EP which weighs in on the volatile time that we are living in.  This band has an incredible Draw Your Own Line story, for example, Ragan now runs a fly fishing guide service!  Enjoy! "Fluttering in the Floodlights" by Yeasayer

Yeasayer is slated to release their fifth album, Erotic Reruns, on June 7th!  We featured the NY group back in 2016 when they dropped their last album (Amen & Goodbye), and we've been fans since the early Jetty years when former Creative Director Nick Zegel turned us onto their first album (All Hour Cymbals).  We're excited to listen through the entire 9 tracks next month, but for now we'll leave you with one of the three currently released songs... "Real Life" by Cayucas

This week we're featuring Cayucas, the Santa Monica band made up of twin brothers Zach & Ben Yudin.  The infectious and mostly upbeat songs which fill their latest album are indicative of the summer season upon us.  You'll find all of the emotions associated with relationships throughout the album, especially in the title track Real Life, check it out!   Read More...

"This Thing" by King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard released their 14th album Fishing For Fishies last month!  The Australian septet has been unpredictable to say the least, releasing 5 albums in 2017 and never wavering with regard to their desire to dive head first into multiple genres.  It will be interesting to see how longtime fans of the Gizz receive this album, but check out This Thing, nod along and judge for yourself!   Read More...

"Running Scared (Desert Song)" by The Strumbellas

The Strumbellas released their 4th album, Rattlesnake, last month.  These guys are no rookies, with International touring and huge festivals like Lollapalooza and Bonaroo under their belt.  Call it Alt Country or Pastoral Pop, we just love the positive, fun, make-you-wanna-dance vibes here.  Check 'em out all over the US during May & June as they continue to tour with the Canadian flag waving proudly behind them. "Day In, Day Out" by JR JR

If you're a fan of JR JR, then what could be better news then the imminent release of a double album!?  What's more is that Invocations / Conversations will be the first release on their own, newly formed label Love is EZ Records.  It's been a wild few years for the Detroit duo (Josh Epstein & Daniel Zott), but luckily for their fans the craziness and life experiences have been turned into a collection of fun pop songs.  Check out Day In, Day Out which according to Epstein is "a homage to Leonard Cohen and Prince passing. It's about the notion that... Read More...

"Inside Out" by Klassy

Once in a while a new emcee really connects the dots.  Klassy's debut album Dirty Cortez sports soulful beats and sharp lyricism attacking tough subjects that plague our daily newswires.  The 7 song EP is a smooth listen through that digs much deeper then the head-nodding beats.  The Dirty Hernan interlude smack in the middle speaks on Nike's classic track sneaker and how it ties history to LA's current issues.  Ultimately though, Klassy breathes positivity and calls for change for the better...for her, for her kids and for all of us.     Read More...

Pine Barons played our 5th Annual HopSauce Festival last year and will return to play on June 1, 2019 as well!  We usually keep things fresh with completely new lineups, but due to an uncertain weather forecast as we kicked things off in 2018 we felt that more fans deserved to hear how good these guys are!  Make sure to grab your tickets and check out their new single Clique Bait! "The Last Time That She Talked To Me" by The Hold Steady

The last time that he talked to us was in 2016 when Craig Finn played our HopSauce Festival!  Craig's band, The Hold Steady, has released a number of singles over the past year or so, the most recent being The Last Time That She Talked To Me.  They have a few great shows in the Northeast this May.  We have something else in common with the band too as they have been wired and well connected since 2003!   Read More...

"Missed Connection" by The Head and the Heart

It was a dream come true for The Head and the Heart to announce that they would be playing at Woodstock 50!  Perfect timing too, as they just released a brand new single from their forthcoming album Living Mirage (their 4th) due out this May.  With a couple of changes to the band itself, and a writing/recording process inspired by travel, this release is sure to be highly anticipated! "Favorite Everything" by The Bouncing Souls

This week's Music Monday is all about New Jersey as we feature the latest release from The Bouncing Souls!  We grew up listening to this band and we'd be lying if we said they weren't a heavy influence on our brand's launch way back in 2003.  With Favorite Everything, part of their 6-song EP Crucial Moments which was released just last Friday, they continue to hit us with vibes that help narrate our shared love of the Garden State and beyond.  The EP comes with a book that celebrates their 30th Anniversary and they've embarked on a pretty massive tour!... "The Sneeze" by Little Comets

We're big fans of Little Comets so naturally we're excited to share their new single, The Sneeze!  It's been a minute since we've heard from the British trio and we're hoping this release is evidence of their 5th album?!  You're not going to find a ton of info on this band, but the comparisons to Vampire Weekend our valid, and you never know where they might pop up and play... We've been vibing on some Jazz around Jetty HQ as of late, so with perfect timing we've been introduced to Ezra Collective!  The London 5-piece puts their own spin on classic Jazz with definite Hip Hop and UK influences.  Get out and dance when they tour the US this month, and check out their new single Quest For Coin from their upcoming album You Can't Steal My Joy... "Psycho Star" by King Tuff

This week we're featuring Psycho Star from Kyle Thomas' album The Other which dropped last year.  You might have missed this one after King Tuff toured for ten years, dropped a few albums and emotionally sort of lost his way.  Kyle eventually navigated back creatively by exploring new instruments and technology, then the writing process followed suit.  Ty Segall mans the drums on more than half of the tracks on this album, and aside from some backup vocals and other contributions, KT really flies the ship (in reverse) toward the sound that he developed in the early 2000's.   Read More...
