Weber & Machotka hoist the Clam!

Photography courtesy of Jim Givas The waves weren't perfect on Saturday, September 18th, but there sure were plenty of them, and the best surfers rose to the occasion at the 15th Annual Clam Jam!  Pete Machotka & Royce Weber took out Jeff Pennella & Conor Willem in a close final heat (13.07 - 11.7).  We score each surfer's highest wave and add them together.  This year, we introduced a beta version of our new digital scoring system so surfers and fans can see live scoring as well as the bracket - check out the results here.  Congrats to Royce, who... Coble & Malandro take the Jam!

Above: The Champs courtesy of Krystal Aguilar Photography A gray, gusty morning gave way to sunshine and drifty waves with enough push to allow Carly Coble and Ava Malandro to rip through to the Coquina Jam finals.  They held off Lauren Zodl & Isla Carvajal by less then one point in a final that saw droves of supporters willing them back up the beach for multiple paddle-outs.  The beach scene had everyone smiling ear to ear, with all doing their part to contribute toward the goal of donating $100,000 to female Cancer patients in need.  Check out the final bracket to... No Clam Jam Streak at 6...

We're not running out of time, this is just the way that the wait for Clam Jam-worthy surf on a weekend goes!  The Jam will not take place on 10/17 or 10/18 this weekend.  We still have a couple of weekends left in OCT, but note that if it does not go down this month, then we can exercise the option to have it on any day of the week (in November)... Clam Jam Delayed Again...

We're postponing the 14th Annual Jetty Clam Jam once again this weekend - it will not run on September 19th or 20th.  We hope you all scored some waves this past week, we were definitely out of the office quite a bit!  We will continue tracking the tropics while remembering that we love the waves that these storms produce, but they can also wreck homes, entire regions and lives. Party with a Purpose

We certainly Party with a Purpose, and our last major event of the year, the LBT Oyster Shellabration was no exception!  The 2nd annual event featured 9 of the LBI Region's oyster farmers who shucked the day away, but also focused on educating the public.  The event benefits the Oyster Recycling Program, the first municipal-run initiative of its kind in New Jersey.  We're excited to elevate our contribution to coastal waters as we usher in 2020, and thanks to you we have considerable funds to keep the needle moving!   Read More...
