Alliance for a Living Ocean will be holding their annual Earth Day Cleanup on Sunday, April 22nd. They have 5 meeting locations available for participants on Long Beach Island: Barnegat Light at the end of Broadway Avenue, Surf City at the Division Avenue playground/boat ramp, Ship Bottom at 10th Street Waterfront Park, Beach Haven at the beach entrance on Center Street, and Holgate at the Wildlife Refuge parking lot. The Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge on Rt. 72 will be cleaned by a group on Saturday. They will be distributing supplies and directions at these locations from 9 to 10 am with the cleanup starting at 10 am. To guarantee yourself a free t-shirt (designed & printed by Jetty), groups and individuals should contact ALO at livingoceanalo@gmail.com or at 609-494-7800. This year, Standup Paddleboarders will be assisting the cleanup by paddling Barnegat Bay and picking up trash. SUP riders interested in helping on the bayside can get in touch with Ken Gallant of South End Surf 'N' Paddle at kenbrah@southendsurfnpaddle.com or 609-492-8823.
