"Marigold" by Jelani Areyah

We came across the rising indie artist Jelani Areyah via Sirius XMU Sessions.  That led us to his new and first full-length album I've Got Some Living To Do.  The SoCal native is definitely drawing his own line and when listening through the album, he's asking all of us to do the same.  Check out the sensual, soulful Marigold! "Back in Ohio" by Lucero

Memphis-based Lucero just dropped their 10th studio album, When You Found Me.  Back in Ohio is based on William Morgan who lived in Toledo (OH) and fought in the Cuban Revolution.  Ben Nichols was inspired to pen the song after seeing American Comandante, a 2015 PBS documentary on Morgan.  Check out the official lyric video below! "Material Boy" by Sir Sly

For the second consecutive week we have a band stepping somewhat outside of their comfort zone with a new release.  Sir Sly isn't really known for putting out slightly positive songs, but Material Boy certainly evokes some happy feelings for us listeners.  This one is sort of straight out of lead singer Landon Jacobs' diary, so enjoy the beautiful marriage of deep lyrics and that undeniable synth line. "Trouble's Coming" by Royal Blood

From the sound of Royal Blood's latest single it seems that the pandemic-induced delay of their 3rd album will be well worth the wait.  You might think that you hear a full band strumming and knocking on a bunch of instruments, a nod to the talent of this duo who are Mike Kerr & Ben Thatcher!  Trouble's Coming is more likely to draw you to the dance floor compared to most of their past work, so we'll see if that direction is also a theme when the album makes its way to us next Spring.   Read More...

"Lifeguard" by Nahko And Medicine for the People

Uplifting music, that is what Nahko And Medicine for the People bring to the table!  The new album, Take Your Power Back, dropped in May, but the impact of the 18 worldly tracks will live on forever.  On Lifeguard, Nahko Bear asks the important question that all of us should answer ~ How much do we really need?   Read More...

"Rusty Nail" by Peter Bjorn and John

One of the most memorable songs from the early years of Jetty is Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John.  They recently announced an American tour as part of their 20th anniversary as well as the March '20 release of their 9th studio album Endless Dream.  Although we're still a few months away from the aforementioned, we do have a typically infectious single to enjoy in the meantime with Rusty Nail!   Read More...

"Strands Align" by Night Moves

This week we're featuring Minneapolis band Night Moves!  They just dropped their 3rd album, Can You Really Find Me, which is getting great reviews and perhaps too many comparisons to greats from the 70's era.  We only say that because we love a solid, underrated band and would advocate to let them Draw Their Own Line!  Enjoy their fun video for Strands Align! "Might Be Right" by White Reaper

Louisville rockers White Reaper recently signed with Elektra and are about to embark on a US tour through this Summer and into November!  Might Be Right is their first single on the new label and we're hoping that a new album is in the works (Pitchfork touted their last album as one of The 20 Best Rock Albums of 2017).  These guys would be perfect for HopSauce Festival 2020, hmmmmmm... "Fluttering in the Floodlights" by Yeasayer

Yeasayer is slated to release their fifth album, Erotic Reruns, on June 7th!  We featured the NY group back in 2016 when they dropped their last album (Amen & Goodbye), and we've been fans since the early Jetty years when former Creative Director Nick Zegel turned us onto their first album (All Hour Cymbals).  We're excited to listen through the entire 9 tracks next month, but for now we'll leave you with one of the three currently released songs... "The Last Time That She Talked To Me" by The Hold Steady

The last time that he talked to us was in 2016 when Craig Finn played our HopSauce Festival!  Craig's band, The Hold Steady, has released a number of singles over the past year or so, the most recent being The Last Time That She Talked To Me.  They have a few great shows in the Northeast this May.  We have something else in common with the band too as they have been wired and well connected since 2003!   Read More...

"Juice" by Lizzo

There is no doubt about how Melissa Jefferson rolls!  After a handful of all-female rap groups and a cemented move from Houston to the Twin Cities, Lizzo is poised to release her 3rd album this April, Cuz I love You.  Her new single, Juice, emulates the self-love movement that she believes in.  She's worked with Prince (2014; BOYTROUBLE) and was featured in ModCloth's Say It Loud campaign last year, proof of the brand's dedication to using real models, not using tech to embellish advertising and removing the term plus-size from its marketing.  We think that she'd agree with our Draw Your Own...
