"Disco Queen" by Tropa Magica

This week we're staying on the left coast and featuring Tropa Magica!  Although Disco Queen is not their most recent single (check out Chunti Party), it will bait you into their self-titled, debut album from 2018.  Brothers David and Rene Pacheco have reinvented their band Thee Commons which was known for high energy shows, dancers and maybe even a clown or someone dressed up in a gorilla suit!  We're eagerly awaiting their second album and hope you enjoy their Tropical-Punk from East LA, with a splash of Cumbia and Psychedelia! "You're Different" by The Shelters

This week we're traveling cross country to bring you some SoCal vibes via The Shelters!  They released their Sophmore effort back in September, Jupiter Sidecar, and although it has a super talented roster from a production/mixing/engineering standpoint, it should be noted that the legendary Tom Petty had produced their debut album (The Shelters; 2016).  After Petty's tragic passing (October 2, 2017), the band strived to get back into the studio and grow.  Check out You're Different! "Claw's Up (Lobby Dom's Theme)" by Dillon

Lobsters typically thrive in shallow waters, but we had to dive deep to find Dillon Maurer aka Lobsterdamus!  The Lobby Dom has clearly drawn his own line from Michigan to Florida, and currently holds it down in the ATL where a brilliant blend of his chef and music skills are budding.  The Tails of Lobsterdamus is full of cooking references, clever analogies and some comedy too as Dillon reflects on life from our favorite crustacean's perspective.  Enjoy the video for Claw's Up (Lobby Dom's Theme), but be sure to listen to the entire album which really tickles our blue collar roots and love... "Shout" by The Vaughns

This week we're featuring Jersey natives The Vaughns!  We've heard reverberations of this 4-piece and wanted to travel back to this past Spring to feature their debut release, FOMO.  Check out the video for Shout and try to catch them on the tail end of their Fall tour if they happen to be cruising through your hood! "Everyone Hides" by Wilco

We're sure that fans of Chicago's Wilco were pleased to see an end to the group's performing hiatus as well as the release of their 11th studio album Ode to Joy!  Like so many bands, the members have changed over the years, but the current 6-piece has been together since the early/mid 2000's.  On the new album, they continue their long journey of twisting and turning through multiple genres.  Check out the upbeat video for Everyone Hides! "America (You're Freaking Me Out)" by The Menzingers

There is no doubt that The Menzingers ring in as one of Jetty's favorite bands.  There is a lot of talk about hitting their shows when we're vibing in the treehouse at HQ.  They recently dropped their 6th studio album, Hello Exile, and that unchanged lineup since their inception does not disappoint!  Check out the video for America (You're Freaking Me Out)!      Read More...

"Peach Fuzz" by CAAMP

CAAMP is a folk trio from Columbus, OH, and they're definitely on the come up!  About a year ago someone in our HQ brought the band up, we made note, then in the midst of a crazy busy Summer we missed their second full-length, By and By.  We're glad that we circled back because, as their website boasts, they make beautiful noise.  These guys aren't by any means unknown as they've played a bunch of top-tier festivals and toured all over, but we bet there are plenty of people who are yet to check them out (and they need to)!... "Good Luck" by Broken Bells

Broken Bells just released Good Luck, but odds are we'll probably have to wait a while for their third full-length.  The proven success of James Mercer (The Shins) collaborating with Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) has us all anxious to hear more, but as they've stated in recent interviews, their both constantly writing and recording on multiple projects.  They have confirmed that they are working on that third album... "Waste My Time" by Work In Progress

Earlier this Summer, Jersey natives Work In Progress dropped their first two singles, Dream Eater & Waste My Time.  While the former features one of our area's top up-and-coming celebs (Gaten Matarazzo; Stranger Things), the latter sports some stunning vocals by his sister Sabrina.  You may have caught the band at last weekend's See.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park, and although the band has some uncertain plans (they postponed a few shows this Summer due to scheduling conflicts), we're hoping to get them to one of our event's in the near future.  In the meantime, we know their drawing their own... "Fingernails" by Gin War

This week we're featuring Gin War, some fellow Jersey natives who dropped a new EP this July!  Check out the video for Fingernails off of Take Me With You and you might just have the opportunity to see these guys play a 2020 Jetty event as well?!   Read More...

"Pure Gold" by Half Alive

Half Alive's debut album Now, Not Yet was released this month and it's everything we thought it would be considering the heavy stream volume of their previous singles that dropped leading up to it.  The CA-based trio simply has a different sound, and the album is the culmination of 4+ years of writing and assembling the band.  It's Labor Day, so kick back and check out Pure Gold, but honestly, listen through the entire album as it's one of the best we've heard in some time!     Read More...

"7Am" by Calista Quinn

Last month we had LBI Region local Calista Quinn over to our HQ for the second installment of our Craft & Calling series.  After performing for a private crowd to kick off our 11th Annual Coquina Jam, Calista has released a brand new song and video!  Check out 7Am and see if you can spot our Single Fin Hoodie! "Sister Rosetta" by Frank Turner

Sister Rosetta is just one of the songs off of Frank Turner's new album which celebrates women.  In this case, Turner is referring to Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the often forgotten American singer from the 30's who helped pave the way for later Rock & Rollers like Elvis and Johnny Cash.  No Man's Land, due out in mid August, features 13 tracks that focus on female heroism.   Read More...

"Take You out Tonight" by STS & Khari Mateen

STS (Sugar Tongue Slim) & Khari Mateen might not be household names in your world, but they've been behind some really great music for quite some time now.  Spring Summer Collection 19 is their second release in the past two years offering just an abundance of style - simply put, they are two distinctly different artists that unite to give us an amazing collaboration.  Khari's CA roots and Slim's ATL upbringing meshed when they both moved to Philly.  Do some digging through whichever music platform you live on, you'll see that these two super talents are bound for more success... "Pick Your Poison" by Black Pistol Fire

Canadian rock duo Black Pistol Fire has a new single out and is building on 2018 which many have pinpointed as their breakout year.  That said, let's give Kevin McKeown and Eric Owen a little more credit, playing together since high school and 5 albums deep since 2011.  They've relocated from Toronto to Austin and recorded this one in Nashville...and they're clearly blowing off some steam!  Check them out on tour as they've received several accolades for their live stage show!   Read More...

"Alligator" by Of Monsters and Men

In a couple of weeks Of Monsters and Men will drop their third album, Fever Dream.  The new single, Alligator, is certainly anthemic despite shedding the folk skin that its ancestors like Little Talks and Dirty Paws beamed onto so many playlists with.  For a band whose origins began from entering an annual music competition in Iceland, its uplifting to see them grow and bring so much energy to a worldwide stage. "Go" by The Black Keys

The real magic happens when Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are together as The Black Keys!  They're back with their first full length in five years, twelve tracks of straight rock hence the album title which alludes to the first execution in Tennessee in 16 years (which occurred during recording).  Check out Go! "Western Stars" by Bruce Springsteen

We've touted many Jersey artists, but none carry a portfolio even close to that of The Boss!  Bruce just dropped Western Stars, his first record in 5 years, which is receiving great reviews due to the thematic and character-based songs.  We won't disagree.  Enjoy the title track and video from a man who has stayed at the top of his game for 5 decades!     Read More...

"Might Be Right" by White Reaper

Louisville rockers White Reaper recently signed with Elektra and are about to embark on a US tour through this Summer and into November!  Might Be Right is their first single on the new label and we're hoping that a new album is in the works (Pitchfork touted their last album as one of The 20 Best Rock Albums of 2017).  These guys would be perfect for HopSauce Festival 2020, hmmmmmm...
