"Hourglass" by Mipso

Mipso is a traditional string quartet that has greatly expanded their sound on their 5th, self-titled release.  Since touring has been off the table, they've used their creativity to construct a handful of videos.  The pandemic has posed plenty of questions about time, rethinking how we spend it and how we use it to accomplish things.  Hourglass touches on that very topic with a great, upbeat tempo and Mipso's classic harmony. "Material Boy" by Sir Sly

For the second consecutive week we have a band stepping somewhat outside of their comfort zone with a new release.  Sir Sly isn't really known for putting out slightly positive songs, but Material Boy certainly evokes some happy feelings for us listeners.  This one is sort of straight out of lead singer Landon Jacobs' diary, so enjoy the beautiful marriage of deep lyrics and that undeniable synth line. "survivin'" by Bastille

Survivin'...that's what most of us are focused on right now!  This year has thrown new and devastatingly tough hurdles at many, so let's make sure to take care of each other.  Bastille has dropped another great single, one that not only uplifts, but also touches on the important topics of anxiety and mental health.  Enjoy! "Something For Me" by The Ones You Forgot

We're changing gears this week and bringing things back to our home Jersey turf with The Ones You Forgot!  Coincidentally, we just met Jenna Bruno, the quintet's lead singer, and we were pleasantly introduced to the bands full-of-life songs.  Despite the smackdown that COVID put on the entire music industry, these guys were able to sneak out a new single in July...check out Something For Me!   Read More...

"Earthquake Weather" by Dirty Heads

The Dirty Heads just released another single leading up to their next release California Island (March '21).  Earthquake Weather is another masterful mixture of Hip-Hop, Reggae and Rock.  After releasing Bum Bum earlier, we now have two solid tracks that have us looking forward to their 8th studio album early next year! "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals

Dreamland, the third album from Glass Animals, dropped earlier this month.  Drummer Joe Seaward has made an amazing and full recovery from a horrific cycling accident and the foursome is once again fully intact.  This album gets more personal as lead singer, songwriter, and producer Dave Bayley went back on his original thinking that songs about the band itself would be selfish.  Dive into Heat Waves and enjoy the dog days of summer! "Pelota" by Khruangbin

The Houston-based trio Khruangbin released Mordechai earlier this Summer.  The Spanish-sung Pelota has a great vibe and the accompanying animated video gives you a little insight on what the song is about.  As they say on the hook, Right Now I Can Be the Ball...enjoy!   Read More...

"You Already Know" by Cold War Kids

The Cold War Kids have accomplished so much in the last 15+ years, but their trilogy, which New Age Norms 2 is smack in the middle of, is something epic!  Last year they released New Age Norms and we're betting that 2021 will bring the final album in the series (#3).  All of the albums contain (8) tracks.  You Already Know (Track #3) keeps the storytelling vivid and continues where Who's Gonna Love Me Now (Track #1) left off.  These are the only two tracks currently out off of the new album, but you'll be able to fill in the rest on... "Still Wandering" by Bronze Radio Return

This week we're featuring Bronze Radio Return, a band that you've likely heard, but never heard of...?!  We say that because a number of their songs have been featured on shows/commercials...and they've toured the world...and they have (7) albums...and they've played all of the major festivals!  Check out the new single Still Wandering...enjoy! "Tidal Wave" by Butcher Brown

We had been checking out Butcher Brown for a while, but with many of our events postponed for the first half of 2020, we'll have to settle for a Music Monday!  If you're a Hip Hop fan, then you undoubtedly know and love Black Moon's Who Got The Props, but you may not have known that the song uses a Ronnie Laws jazz sample.  Put the two songs together and you have a beautiful blend and Butcher Brown's new single, Tidal Wave.  We hope to get these guys on stage at one of our future events!   Read More...

"Different Light" by Best Coast

Surf-pop band Best Coast is back with their 4th album Always Tomorrow out this month.  They released a children's album in 2018 and served as the house band on Fox's What Just Happened??! With Fred Savage last year, but many of us wondered if they could recapture their early success.  We shouldn't have wondered as Bethany Cosentino shook the writer's block, got sober and coexists beautifully with the multi-talented Bobb Bruno on their new effort.  There's a video out for Everything Has Changed, but we're also feeling the upbeat lead track Different Light ~ enjoy!   Read More...

"Lost in Yesterday" by Tame Impala

Tame Impala will release The Slow Rush this month, their 4th studio album and first since Currents in 2015.  There's no arguing the talent of Kevin Parker who writes, records, performs, produces and mixes all Tame Impala material on his own.  Enjoy this trip back to the 70's with Lost in Yesterday! "Camouflage" by The Front Bottoms

The Front Bottoms have done it all over the past 10+ years, from playing massive festivals, to touring, to creating a pile of studio albums, EP's and videos.  Sharing some of our own Bergen County (NJ) roots, we take great pleasure in supporting this band whom definitely shares our Draw Your Own Line mentality.  At the end of 2019, they dropped Camouflage, and after some time off for reflection it looks like they are working on another album!   Read More...

"Christmas at My House" by The Dirty Nil

We're keeping it Canadian this week with one of our favorite new bands, The Dirty Nil!  We're all about traditional Holiday tunes, but how great is it when we can add a fresh track to the playlist?!  Whether you're traveling or hosting, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! "Wait" by The Commonheart

The Commonheart dropped their second album Pressure this past August, wrapped up their headlining Fall tour and are keeping things lively this month down in Florida.  The 10 person band reigning from Pittsburgh is led by frontman Clinton Clegg and there's no doubt that the sound is explosive and soulful.  Bursting onto the scene in 2016, this is one of those groups that we suggest you make it a point to seek out and see live! "Don't Give Up" by Lee Fields & the Expressions

We had the pleasure of having Lee Fields headline our HopSauce Festival back in 2017.  Little JB stays busy as he released a new album, It Rains Love, earlier this year and just last week a new song, Don't Give Up.  It's amazing that Lee is still putting music out today after recording his first single in 1969!  We'll take all of the soul that we can get! "High Steppin'" by The Avett Brothers

This week we're heading back East to feature The Avett Brothers!  The NC-based Americana band are no strangers to most with 10 studio albums, a spot in the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and top notch production by the likes of Rick Rubin.  Enjoy the video for High Steppin' and check out their latest album, Closer Than Together, which dropped last month.   Read More...

"Good Luck" by Broken Bells

Broken Bells just released Good Luck, but odds are we'll probably have to wait a while for their third full-length.  The proven success of James Mercer (The Shins) collaborating with Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) has us all anxious to hear more, but as they've stated in recent interviews, their both constantly writing and recording on multiple projects.  They have confirmed that they are working on that third album... "Pure Gold" by Half Alive

Half Alive's debut album Now, Not Yet was released this month and it's everything we thought it would be considering the heavy stream volume of their previous singles that dropped leading up to it.  The CA-based trio simply has a different sound, and the album is the culmination of 4+ years of writing and assembling the band.  It's Labor Day, so kick back and check out Pure Gold, but honestly, listen through the entire album as it's one of the best we've heard in some time!     Read More...

"Strands Align" by Night Moves

This week we're featuring Minneapolis band Night Moves!  They just dropped their 3rd album, Can You Really Find Me, which is getting great reviews and perhaps too many comparisons to greats from the 70's era.  We only say that because we love a solid, underrated band and would advocate to let them Draw Their Own Line!  Enjoy their fun video for Strands Align!
