"Space Girl" by Frances Forever

Space Girl by Frances Forever has gained a ton of momentum lately.  In 2019, the song launched via NPR's Tiny Desk Concert.  There is also another version of it out there featuring Chole Moriondo.  Whether it is old or new to you, the official video just dropped and we wanted to share the love! "Medicine At Midnight" by Foo Fighters

Nobody can really argue with the 25+ year consistency of the Foo Fighters.  Here we're featuring the title track of their 10th studio album Medicine At Midnight.  Interestingly, this album was wrapped up before the pandemic.  We're digging the beat on this one which has been described as having a David Bowie disco influence.  Enjoy! "The Bandit" by Kings of Leon

This March Kings of Leon will release their 8th studio album entitled When You See Yourself.  What is really cool about this band is that it is a family affair as brothers Caleb, Nathan & Jared are joined by their cousin Matthew.  The band even chose their name after their grandfather Leon.  We'll be looking forward to the entire album, but for now enjoy The Bandit! "It Ain't Easy" by Delta Spirit

Delta Spirit is back off of a six year hiatus with a brand new album, What Is There.  Lead man Matthew Logan Vasquez has been up front about the band's long break and its positive affect on keeping their friendship true.  On the sonic side, the pause definitely worked as we had trouble choosing a song to feature from the new album which dropped last month.  Enjoy It Ain't Easy, but do your due diligence on the full listen through! "Material Boy" by Sir Sly

For the second consecutive week we have a band stepping somewhat outside of their comfort zone with a new release.  Sir Sly isn't really known for putting out slightly positive songs, but Material Boy certainly evokes some happy feelings for us listeners.  This one is sort of straight out of lead singer Landon Jacobs' diary, so enjoy the beautiful marriage of deep lyrics and that undeniable synth line. "Trouble's Coming" by Royal Blood

From the sound of Royal Blood's latest single it seems that the pandemic-induced delay of their 3rd album will be well worth the wait.  You might think that you hear a full band strumming and knocking on a bunch of instruments, a nod to the talent of this duo who are Mike Kerr & Ben Thatcher!  Trouble's Coming is more likely to draw you to the dance floor compared to most of their past work, so we'll see if that direction is also a theme when the album makes its way to us next Spring.   Read More...

"The Colour of Love" by Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins have released two new tracks as they ready their next release.  Cyr & The Colour of Love both stray away from traditional Pumpkins' sound and more toward synth-pop.  It will be interesting to hear over 20 new songs that Billy Corgan calls pretty different when they drop their first album with Sumerian Records.     Read More...

"Earthquake Weather" by Dirty Heads

The Dirty Heads just released another single leading up to their next release California Island (March '21).  Earthquake Weather is another masterful mixture of Hip-Hop, Reggae and Rock.  After releasing Bum Bum earlier, we now have two solid tracks that have us looking forward to their 8th studio album early next year! "Pelota" by Khruangbin

The Houston-based trio Khruangbin released Mordechai earlier this Summer.  The Spanish-sung Pelota has a great vibe and the accompanying animated video gives you a little insight on what the song is about.  As they say on the hook, Right Now I Can Be the Ball...enjoy!   Read More...

"Good Shit Happens" by Michael Franti & Spearhead

This week we're sharing the good vibes of Michael Franti & Spearhead!  The new album title, Work Hard & Be Nice, says it all as that is sort of what we all need to do during these divided times.  Hey, bad shit happens, but good shit happens too, so let's focus on the latter and be better humans! "Time Moves On" by Phantom Planet

Phantom Planet is back after a fairly long hiatus!  Twelve years since their last full release, the quartet led by frontman Alex Greenwald haven't missed a beat.  Greenwald wrote Time Moves On to get past his own tough personal moment, and given the current state of affairs, most of us can probably use a song like this right now to push us toward a better time.  The full album, Devastator, is out now!   Read More...

"ALIVE" by Hanni El Khatib

Hanni El Khatib has a pretty rad DYOL-centric story.  He grew up skating in San Francisco and seems to share a lot of the same influences that we do here at Jetty.  He was a creative director at HUF, but once the world got ears on his music he rerouted to building a catalog of great vibes.  That route included heavy touring and four albums which led to him being creatively spent.  After getting sober, surviving a heavy car accident and re-exploring his roots with some clear Hip Hop influence, he's released a new album FLIGHT! "World On Fire" by The Bouncing Souls

The Bouncing Souls were in the studio on the front end of the COVID-19 pandemic.  World On Fire was born during this time of great uncertainty, but as they suggest, it's a song about keeping the light in sight.  Let's stay positive! Read More...

"Portland" by Rat Kid Cool

There's not a ton of info out there on Ciaran O'Donnell, former touring member of The Front Bottoms, but he just dropped some new music and we love it!  Check out Portland, one of two new songs aptly named for the The Pine Tree State where it seems like O'Donnell is spending his time.  This one is a Summer anthem for us - where will your dance floor be at?!   Read More...

"Hero" by Weezer

Weezer isn't short on anthems, but they decided to add another one to their certifiable list last week with Hero.  Despite the new album Van Weezer being moved back, the band has released two tracks as well as making an appearance on The Simpsons this past weekend.  We can all share in this one which pays homage to the essential workers - hang on until the end of the video which includes a written thank you from Rivers Cuomo.       Read More...

"Future Peg" by Man Man

Man Man has had a long cast of members, but the experimental band has always revolved around Ryan Kattner and his piano.  Honus Honus (Kattner's stage name) comes back on May 1 with Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between, Man Man's first proper released since 2013's On Oni Pond.  Check out Future Peg as we look forward to the rest of what is sure to be a super creative album! "We Have To Move On" by Inhaler

You can say that Elijah Hewson has a bit of a head start being Bono's son, but Inhaler has already proved to be a breakout band from Dublin.  Yet to drop a full-length, but being streamed like crazy and touring worldwide, you can bet that they will be around for a while!  Check out their latest single We Have To Move On...       Read More...
