"This Thing" by King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard released their 14th album Fishing For Fishies last month!  The Australian septet has been unpredictable to say the least, releasing 5 albums in 2017 and never wavering with regard to their desire to dive head first into multiple genres.  It will be interesting to see how longtime fans of the Gizz receive this album, but check out This Thing, nod along and judge for yourself!   Read More...

"Running Scared (Desert Song)" by The Strumbellas

The Strumbellas released their 4th album, Rattlesnake, last month.  These guys are no rookies, with International touring and huge festivals like Lollapalooza and Bonaroo under their belt.  Call it Alt Country or Pastoral Pop, we just love the positive, fun, make-you-wanna-dance vibes here.  Check 'em out all over the US during May & June as they continue to tour with the Canadian flag waving proudly behind them. "Inside Out" by Klassy

Once in a while a new emcee really connects the dots.  Klassy's debut album Dirty Cortez sports soulful beats and sharp lyricism attacking tough subjects that plague our daily newswires.  The 7 song EP is a smooth listen through that digs much deeper then the head-nodding beats.  The Dirty Hernan interlude smack in the middle speaks on Nike's classic track sneaker and how it ties history to LA's current issues.  Ultimately though, Klassy breathes positivity and calls for change for the better...for her, for her kids and for all of us.     Read More...

"Clique Bait" by Pine Barons

Pine Barons played our 5th Annual HopSauce Festival last year and will return to play on June 1, 2019 as well!  We usually keep things fresh with completely new lineups, but due to an uncertain weather forecast as we kicked things off in 2018 we felt that more fans deserved to hear how good these guys are!  Make sure to grab your tickets and check out their new single Clique Bait! "The Last Time That She Talked To Me" by The Hold Steady

The last time that he talked to us was in 2016 when Craig Finn played our HopSauce Festival!  Craig's band, The Hold Steady, has released a number of singles over the past year or so, the most recent being The Last Time That She Talked To Me.  They have a few great shows in the Northeast this May.  We have something else in common with the band too as they have been wired and well connected since 2003!   Read More...

"Missed Connection" by The Head and the Heart

It was a dream come true for The Head and the Heart to announce that they would be playing at Woodstock 50!  Perfect timing too, as they just released a brand new single from their forthcoming album Living Mirage (their 4th) due out this May.  With a couple of changes to the band itself, and a writing/recording process inspired by travel, this release is sure to be highly anticipated! "Favorite Everything" by The Bouncing Souls

This week's Music Monday is all about New Jersey as we feature the latest release from The Bouncing Souls!  We grew up listening to this band and we'd be lying if we said they weren't a heavy influence on our brand's launch way back in 2003.  With Favorite Everything, part of their 6-song EP Crucial Moments which was released just last Friday, they continue to hit us with vibes that help narrate our shared love of the Garden State and beyond.  The EP comes with a book that celebrates their 30th Anniversary and they've embarked on a pretty massive tour!... "The Sneeze" by Little Comets

We're big fans of Little Comets so naturally we're excited to share their new single, The Sneeze!  It's been a minute since we've heard from the British trio and we're hoping this release is evidence of their 5th album?!  You're not going to find a ton of info on this band, but the comparisons to Vampire Weekend our valid, and you never know where they might pop up and play... "Quest For Coin" by Ezra Collective

We've been vibing on some Jazz around Jetty HQ as of late, so with perfect timing we've been introduced to Ezra Collective!  The London 5-piece puts their own spin on classic Jazz with definite Hip Hop and UK influences.  Get out and dance when they tour the US this month, and check out their new single Quest For Coin from their upcoming album You Can't Steal My Joy... "Psycho Star" by King Tuff

This week we're featuring Psycho Star from Kyle Thomas' album The Other which dropped last year.  You might have missed this one after King Tuff toured for ten years, dropped a few albums and emotionally sort of lost his way.  Kyle eventually navigated back creatively by exploring new instruments and technology, then the writing process followed suit.  Ty Segall mans the drums on more than half of the tracks on this album, and aside from some backup vocals and other contributions, KT really flies the ship (in reverse) toward the sound that he developed in the early 2000's.   Read More...

"Juice" by Lizzo

There is no doubt about how Melissa Jefferson rolls!  After a handful of all-female rap groups and a cemented move from Houston to the Twin Cities, Lizzo is poised to release her 3rd album this April, Cuz I love You.  Her new single, Juice, emulates the self-love movement that she believes in.  She's worked with Prince (2014; BOYTROUBLE) and was featured in ModCloth's Say It Loud campaign last year, proof of the brand's dedication to using real models, not using tech to embellish advertising and removing the term plus-size from its marketing.  We think that she'd agree with our Draw Your Own... "Chasing You" by J.J. Cale

J.J. Cale is widely considered as one of the most important figures in rock music.  Just Google him and you'll immediately pay homage to the songs that he penned, but were ultimately made famous by the likes of Eric Clapton, Skynyrd and Waylon Jennings.  The list goes on, and that's not to say that Cale wasn't famous, but he definitely preferred to stay away from the limelight.  Unfortunately, Cale is no longer with us, but this Spring we'll get a dose of totally unreleased, never heard before songs on the posthumous Stay Around.  Enjoy Chasing You and we'll see what... "Harmony Hall" by Vampire Weekend

Fans of Vampire Weekend have waited six years for new material.  A two hour guitar-loop teased Harmony Hall, one of two new songs that were released last week.  Perhaps most exciting, word is that the new album, Father of the Bride, will be an 18 track double album!  The band plans to release two new songs each month through March.  Even though co-founder Rostam Batmanglij has left to explore a solo career, he is listed as an additional producer on the single below... "Kids" by PUP

PUP released a 'zine earlier this month to let their fans know that their 3rd studio album, Morbid Stuff, is on the way!  We're down with 'zines (check out our magalog from last year) and bands that mix it up with cool marketing initiatives.  Check out their first single, Kids, and definitely check out their merch.  Although we don't print their gear, The PUP Morbid Stuff Annihilation Preparedness Kits are pretty...damn...rad!   Read More...

"Kick Out the Windows" by Parsonsfield

In 2013, Poor Old Shine recorded their self-titled, debut album, but soon after renamed their band to Parsonsfield.  The group, which formed while the original members attended UConn, decided to move forward with the town where they recorded their first album (Parsonsfield, ME) as opposed to the lyrics from the traditional prison work song Ain’t No Cane on This Brazos (which they simply loved playing).  Now onto their 4th studio album which dropped earlier in 2018, these guys are cruising right along with a little bit of folk, bluegrass,  attitude and versatility (via trading instruments on stage)! "Life Sucks... Let's Dance!" by Reel Big Fish

We're ringing in the new year with some new music from Reel Big Fish!  The SoCal ska legends need no introduction.  This is their first wave of new music since 2012...and it has a perfectly positive bounce to it.  The past year seemed to have more turmoil then ever before, so we're primed for a supremely upbeat 2019!  Happy New Year ~ have a safe one as we pull together to overcome life's ills...now let's dance! "Now That You're Gone" by The Raconteurs

It's been more than a decade since we've had new music from supergroup The Raconteurs.  When Jack White & Brendan Benson wrote Steady, As She Goes, that was actually what inspired them to bring in Jack Lawrence & Patrick Keeler to form the group.  The old friends are back with plans to release a full-length in 2019.  Check out Now That You're Gone, one of two recently release singles! "I Got Your Christmas Right Here" by Aloe Blacc

This week we're celebrating the Holidays with some Christmas Funk from Aloe Blacc!  We love the classics, and two are covered on this album, but man is it refreshing to hear some new originals (8 of 'em to be exact) this time of year!  Dedicated Hip Hop heads may know Aloe Blacc from Emanon.  Hoops enthusiasts might have The Man embedded in their brains from ESPN's promo usage of the song during 2014.  We're just going to pop this on repeat and soak in the soul with our family and friends! "Among The Ghosts" by Lucero

Though they may have seemed like totally different worlds, the juxtaposition of punk, folk music and alternative country have intertwined into a genre as no one could have foreseen. And carrying that flag for the last two decades is Lucero, from Memphis, TN.  Among the Ghosts is Lucero’s 12th record and certainly a notable one in their discography, laden with deeper storytelling and an overall darker tone. It doesn’t have those wild Lucero drinking songs, horns, or honkey tonk anthems, but rather intricately woven stories of characters in the American South.  The tone is more along the lines of frontman Ben Nichols’ 2009... "Woman" by Mumford & Sons

Mumford & Sons dropped their 4th studio album last month, Delta.  With a long list of accomplishments and worldwide fame, this album totes a different sound then what they burst onto the scene with.  Some will find mediocrity in Delta and yearn for the older, more folk-centric sound, but we're digging the emotion here.  Check out Woman and wonder...Can you ever really know?!
