Nicotine & Brown

Formerly known as Varton & the Sand Crabs, Brian Parnagian, Jared Temple & Steve McGlynn have been polishing their sound and have really taken a step forward with their band, Nicotine & Brown (official Facebook page & MySpace page). These guys played in the lobby at our New Year’s Eve bash last year and also at a viewing of A Pleasant Surprise back on August 2nd @ the Long Beach Township ball field. Brian has surfed for Jetty since our inception and Jared just did a little modeling work for our Fall/Winter shoot (photos coming soon)! Great guys, great vibes – we highly suggest checking out one of their shows!

The Surfers @ Asbury Lanes

This is a little throwback from when The Surfers (Kelly Slater, Rob Machado & Peter King) played The Fastlanes. Check out Jetty team rider Dave Werner getting his 15, ummmm 5, seconds of fame!

Soul outta water…

It’s true, you can find a Jetty team surfer out of the water (not often) once in a while. Check out Jon Coen’s blog on ESPN for proof that Petey Machotka was bouncing with the Souls! Photo Credit: Tom Spader.

Earth people…NY & CA

Lots of updates from the Jetty surf team with waves seemingly everywhere this past weekend! Brian Parnagian sent in some photos from New York courtesy of Ryan Struck. Brian recently pulled an all-nighter in the studio recording his first album! Danny Hart, who’s gearing up for the Coldwater Classic, checked in from the left coast with a few photos courtesy of Tim Westmore. Tim has a slew of sick Danimal shots over at his site – check ‘em out! Additionally, below you’ll find a little musical treat from the Doctor (not the one you’re used to) that two of us are vibing to (not Cory!) in the warehouse today!

Brian the Architect?

I have to take credit for coining the nickname “Parnavore” for Brian Parnagian…not so sure it ever stuck outside of our crew that traveled to Peru, but he’s in my phone under that moniker. Is a new nickname coming soon? Probably, as Brian is now entering graduate school in the field of architecture and tackling something completely brand new! He started his own little blog so you can follow his journey – check it out here! Brian might have to take a little break from world traveling at the moment, but we’re sure he’ll still find time to play some music. He recently formed a group called Varton & the Sandcrabs and his solo track, “What Will Come” was featured in instrumental form in A Pleasant Surprise which premiered last weekend at the Paramount Theatre. Did we mention he rides for us too?! Here’s a shot from his last trip to the Soup Bowl! Good luck in graduate school kid!
